Jessica Hendricks
Jessica Hendricks, 25, is a native Alaskan that has stayed close to her roots, attending high school in North Pole, Alaska while training for mid-distance races. Hendricks began mushing at the age of nine, competing in many junior sprint races, the Junior North American Championships, the Junior Yukon Quest and the Junior Iditarod twice.

Following her junior year in high school, she began preparing herself for a run in the Iditarod and was one of the youngest mushers to run the 2003 Iditarod. At the end of that run she had captured the Rookie of the Year award for her 19th place finish with a time of 11 days, 2 hours, 40 minutes, 17 seconds.
Jessica is developing her own dogs and notes that her kennel of 60+ dogs come from strong lines drawn from Erhart, Buser and MacEachen kennels. She and her partner have raised and trained all of her dogs from pups. She has worked with Dan MacEachen and feels that she has learned a lot about competitive racing from him.
She used the knowledge gained from her race in 2003 to make a dramatic improvement in 2005. "I love the sport of racing dogs and the Iditarod is the best test I can give my dogs."
Jessica enjoys hunting, horses, fishing, and the outdoors.
